  • The programme for the introduction for the New ISA Vetting and Barring Scheme has been delayed and is subject to a Review by Government, however the ISA Website is still available and will provide the latest information. This includes oblications on employers to report incidents.
  • Details on who requires training for Safeguarding, can be found in the Training Guide for Module A below, but for clarity an excert from that documentation gives the specific list (Click here). Follwing on from Methodist Conference in 2010 it is now a requirement to CRB check for those resposible for the management of those working with Children.
  • The Government review has now been published and is currently being reviewed by all agencies, who are in tern lobbying government where they consider propsals are inadequat. However this Government appear to be taking a far less severe approach to the subject.
  •  Th ISA delay does not mean training can be put on the 'Back Burner' since it is critical that we are seen to be taking our responsibilities seriously and this includes keeping CRB registration up to date. This has Legal implications

The new manual on safeguarding is now available from Metodist publishing and copies should be available in every Church. ALL MINISTERS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH A COPY.tHE SECTION ON 'RECRUITING SAFELY' HAS NOT BEEN PUBLISHED AT THIS STAGE AS IT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THE GOVERNMENT REPORT ON ISA.

The document is available for down load from the following link

Appendix 2 is particularly useful in giving guidance on who needs CRB Clearnces.
